This is the first interim report of a longitudinal study examining the rates and patterns of deferral from young people in regional and rural Victoria. The report is a joint project between 14 LLENs including the Goldfields LLEN, the Youth Affairs Council of Victoria, and was undertaken by the Centre for Post-Compulsory Education and Lifelong Learning; The University of Melbourne.
Paper released in May 2008 from the University of Melbourne Centre for Post-compulsory Education and Lifelong Learning. This paper outlines the targeted initiatives used by 25 Victorian Government schools who have high retention rates of students through to year 12 completion to achieve those high retention rates.

This March 2005 report supported by the Dusseldorp Skills Forum, builds the case for the creation of localised solutions in building a response to the issue of early school leavers and the need for a differing response from government to support the development of localised plans. This report provides examples of how local communities are working to build an integrated and coordinated local transition systems which better serve the needs of the young people within their communities.
